Side by side
The same job, two ways of paying for it.
What published Indian cost guides say a website maintenance plan costs and covers, next to ours.
| What is compared | InkySites | A web agency or developer |
|---|---|---|
| Changes included | Unlimited reasonable changes once you're on the plan. Nothing is counted. | A monthly quota. One guide lists 4 to 6 content updates a month in a business-site plan; another says updates are often capped by hours. |
| Past the quota | On the plan there is no quota to run past. A ground-up redesign or an online shop is a separate conversation. | One guide says agencies in Pune typically charge ₹500 to ₹1,500 an hour for content updates. Another lists new pages beyond the quota as not covered. |
| Monthly price | $29 a month (₹1,499 a month, GST included, if you're billed in India). | ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a month for a small-business site in one guide, before GST. Another puts a maintenance contract at ₹1,500 to ₹15,000 a month. |
| Hosting | Included. No separate bill. | Check the plan. One guide lists hosting as an additional cost, at ₹200 to ₹5,000 a month. |
| How fast | Most changes are live within the hour. All within 48. | Depends on the plan. Ask for the turnaround in writing. |
| Software updates | Nothing to update or patch. Plain static pages, no plugins and no CMS. | One guide's small-business plan is weekly CMS and plugin updates, security scans and monthly backups. |
| Your domain and code | Your domain stays in your name. The code is plain static files, sent whenever you ask. | Ask whose name the domain is in, and who holds the logins. Why it matters. |
| Leaving | Cancel whenever you like. No notice period. | Read the contract. One agency's own guide says paying a year up front “also locks you”. |
Agency figures are from cost guides that Indian agencies publish, read on 2 October 2026: upGrowth's maintenance cost guide (the small-business price, before GST, and the 4 to 6 updates) and maintenance guide (hosting and software updates), Redpulse Software (the contract price, new pages and annual billing), Aarav Infotech (updates capped by hours) and IRPR Agency (the hourly rate). They describe the market in general, not your agency's plan, which may differ. InkySites' “most within the hour, all within 48” is our normal turnaround, not a contractual SLA.
One box. Type it the way you’d say it.
No editor to learn. A price that went up, new timings for Sunday, a new face on the team, the photos from last week. Write it the way you would tell a person, and attach the file if there is one.
Want to see it before anyone else does? Tick the box, and it comes back to you first.
Most changes are live within the hour. All within 48.
Before you renew
Whose name is your domain in?
ICANN, the body that oversees domain names, warns that a developer you hire “may have registered the domain name using their own contact details (even if you have paid them to register and manage the domain name)”.
Check yours before you renew anything.
Your registrar can tell you who the registered owner is. How to check, step by step.
From ICANN's general questions about domain names, read on 2 October 2026.
We run it. You own it.
Keeping your site with us never means handing it over for good.
Ask for the files whenever you want them, including the day you leave. Any developer could pick them up the next morning.
No hostage situation. No awkward breakup.
Your design, your call
Happy with the site you have?
We just copy it over.
Lots of owners like how their site looks. The trouble is keeping it up to date. So when you send it to us, we ask: Want a new design?
No, just copy it over
Inky copies your site as it is, as a free preview. Your current site stays exactly where it is.
From then on, you ask for changes and they get made.
Yes, freshen it up
Inky rebuilds your site with a fresh design, made from your own words and photos. You see it before you decide anything.
After that it works the same way: you ask, and it changes.
Either way it is free to see, and anything you would like changed straight away goes into your free site where it can.
How switching works
Nothing moves
until you say so.
Step 1
Send us your website
Paste the address, say whether you want a new design or just a copy, and tell us anything you would like changed straight away. We only need the address, so there is nobody to ask first.
Step 2
See it in 48 hours, free
No card, and your current site stays exactly where it is. It comes with three rounds of changes, free, before you pay anything, so you can see how asking works before you decide.
Step 3
Go live, then just ask
Point your domain at us and it goes live. Your email stays exactly where it is. From then on, ask in your dashboard or on WhatsApp, as often as you like.
The honest version
When an agency is the right call.
Stay with an agency if
You need an online shop with a checkout, a custom web app, or someone to run your ads, your social media or an SEO campaign. We don't do those, and plenty of agencies do them well.
The same goes if you want a team you can sit across a table from.
Switch to InkySites if
Your site mostly needs keeping current: prices, timings, photos, people, a new page now and then.
You would rather ask and have it done than count hours, and you want one published price with the hosting in it.
Pricing
One price, published. $29 a month.

FAQ
The questions people actually ask.
Do I have to tell my agency or developer first?
No. Seeing your site copied over needs only its address, and your current site stays exactly where it is. You decide after you have seen it.
What if my agency or developer holds the domain or the logins?
You can still see your site copied over, because we only need its address.
Going live is different: the domain has to be pointed at us, and that needs access to wherever it is registered. If someone else holds that, this guide covers getting it back.
My site runs on WordPress. Does that matter?
We do not maintain WordPress installations. We rebuild the site as plain static pages and run that instead, which is why there is no plugin to update, no database to break into and no admin login for anyone to guess.
You see the rebuilt version before you move anything, so none of it is taken on trust.
Is a person involved at all?
Yes. Inky does the work, and a person reads every request. You are not filing tickets into a void.
What counts as a change?
Anything that keeps the site in step with the business: prices, timings, photos, people, notices, contact and booking details, a new page for a new service or branch, small layout tweaks, and fixing anything that breaks.
A ground-up redesign, an online store with a checkout, or a batch of pages that amounts to a second site is a bigger piece of work. We will say so and talk about it, rather than quietly not doing it.
How many changes do I get?
Once you're on the plan, there's no quota and nothing counting. Unlimited reasonable changes means the bound is the kind of work, not a number. Before you pay, the free build comes with three rounds of changes instead.
How quickly are changes made?
Most changes are live within the hour. All within 48. If something is urgent, say so when you ask.
Can I ask for changes on WhatsApp?
Yes, once you connect your phone from your dashboard. Send a message, photos or a voice note, and you hear back on WhatsApp and by email when it's done.
What does “just copy it over” mean?
Inky copies your site as it is, as a free preview. Your current site stays exactly where it is.
After that it is run like every other site here: you ask, and it changes.
Do I have to learn an editor?
No. There is no editor and nothing to install. You type what you want in your dashboard, or send it on WhatsApp, and it gets done.
Is the free site actually free?
Yes. You see the finished site before you pay anything, and if you walk away there is nothing to cancel and nothing owed.
What happens if I stop paying?
The domain was always registered in your name, so nothing of yours is locked up. We stop hosting the site, and the complete code comes to you whenever you ask for it. There is nothing to migrate and no proprietary format to convert.
See it copied over.
Then decide.
Send us your site. Keep it as it is or have it freshened up, and see it in 48 hours, before you pay anything.
