The short version
InkySites is $29 a month (₹1,499 a month, GST included, if you're billed in India), billed in advance, and you can cancel any time. If you're billed in India you can pay ₹14,990 for a year instead. When you cancel, the billing stops and your site stays up until the end of the month you're in. We don't refund part of a month. If you paid for a year, we refund every whole month you haven't used. There's no exit fee, and your files and your domain stay yours.
Paying monthly
We charge $29 (₹1,499, GST included, if you're billed in India) at the start of each month, for that month's hosting and changes. No card is taken until you decide to put your site live. Because the charge only ever covers the month ahead, there's rarely anything sitting there to refund.
Paying yearly
If you're billed in India, you can pay ₹14,990 once a year instead of ₹1,499 each month. That is ten months' price for twelve months, so two months are free, and you get one invoice a year instead of twelve. It renews by itself once a year, and we email you 14 days before with the date and the amount, so you can switch to monthly or cancel first.
It is a payment in advance, not a contract. You can leave at any point in the year.
No part-month refunds
If you cancel partway through a month you've paid for, your site keeps running until that month ends, then comes offline. We don't pro-rate the unused days back to you, and we don't charge you anything to leave. You've had the hosting and the changes for the month you paid for; that's the deal, both ways.
If you cancel a year you've paid for
Your site stays up to the end of the month you're in, counted from the day your year started. Every whole month after that is refunded, at one twelfth of what you paid for the year. So if you cancel a few days into your fifth month, that month runs its course and seven months' money comes back to you.
We start the refund on the day you cancel. If you paid less than six months ago, it goes back to the card or UPI you paid with. Razorpay, which handles our payments in India, can't return money to a payment more than six months old, so after that we send it by bank transfer instead and ask you for your bank or UPI details. The amount is the same either way, and you can cancel first and give us the details afterwards.
Switching between monthly and yearly
You can switch either way from your account. Monthly to yearly: you approve the yearly payment now, and it is first taken when the month you've paid for ends. Yearly to monthly: monthly payments start when the year you've paid for ends. Once you approve a switch it can't be undone, though you can still cancel. A switch can't be started in the last three days before a payment is due. On the day you approve, a card or UPI shows a small set-up charge, which Razorpay refunds automatically. Switching moves no money back. If you want the unused months of a year returned, cancel instead.
When we do refund
If we get the billing wrong, we make it right. A double charge, a charge after you'd already cancelled, or a renewal that shouldn't have gone through gets refunded in full, no questions, as soon as you tell us. Email [email protected] and a human will sort it.
The redesign is free
The first redesign costs nothing and takes no card, so there's nothing to refund there either. You only ever pay once you've seen the work and chosen to put it live on your domain.
If a payment fails
If a charge doesn't go through, monthly or yearly, we retry it over the next few days and email you, and you update your card in your dashboard. We don't keep billing a dead card, and we don't charge a fee for the gap. Your site stays up while you sort it out; the dates are on the Cancellation page.
Cancelling and your files
How to cancel, and what happens to your site and your domain afterwards, lives on the Cancellation page. Same plain deal: billing stops, the site runs to month-end, and the files and domain come back to you.
